Scrattered City
“Scrattered City,” 36 x 48,” oil and enamel on canvas, 1997. $700.
This painting evokes memories from a colorfully lit china town, and the jumble of mixed languages. I used oil paint for the composition, then added the enamel squares. Later, I used this process for two paintings that sold on a museum tour given by the Jones Center for Contemporary art in Austin TX. I became obsessed with making a screening layer of dots or squares over my paintings, further obscuring the original forms.
